Milestones

1999 Ellen Pun started her meals-on-wheels business in Toronto with meals produced in the provincial plant. Her concept of healthy frozen meal solution was introduced to the local community.
2000 The first Ellen’s Food Specialty Store selling frozen meals was opened at the Pacific Mall in Markham - the largest indoor Chinese shopping mall in North America. A total of 10 stores were opened across the Greater Toronto Area in the following years.
2006 To meet the growing market demand, EFG added a federally registered plant to strengthen production capabilities in January 2006. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to produce frozen meals, frozen dim sum and Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) products.

In August 2006, EFG diversified into the wholesale and retail businesses of poultry products. The first Sunny Meat Market was opened in downtown Toronto.
2007 The first Sara’s Café was opened to serve the residents, employees and visitors of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Scarborough-Finch.
2008 Two more Sara’s Cafés were opened at the Yee Hong Centres in Mississauga and Markham. The second Sunny Meat Market was opened in Richmond Hill.
2009 EFG has expanded into restaurant business with plans to open Regal Palace, a high-end Chinese restaurant, and the first Sara’s Kitchen, a baked chicken chain, in Richmond Hill. The chain will open eight more restaurants in the GTA.
